nodding and swerving

still tired and nodding off from
two nights ago
(I probably should’ve slept at some point)
I’m seeing two of everything,
which in the case of the
gorgeous
woman
I’m going to see
is not a problem at all;
it’s driving there that presents the challenges.

In the Dodge Challenger
I swerve in and out of lanes
my eyelids are closing
opening
closing
I see four lines on the street where I should only see two
i’m nodding off, but
the street light bumps
wake me up as the car begins to swerve off the
lane and the thumping jerks my head
and i swerve into the next lane to adjust
and then swerve back to avoid the oncoming
semi-truck.

I should probably pull off to the side of the road
and rest.
But, the thought of seeing the beautiful woman
motivates me and does not deter me
from visiting her; despite the detours in the directions
to her place.

I slap my face,
again,
again,
and again.

WAKE UP, JONATHAN!

You need this moment…

almost as much as she does…
