railroad tracks

the railroad tracks curve around
the mountain as if they were
designed to be there from
the origin of their initial eruption.

the nails that keep the tracks
intact represent the loves
that have wounded my heart
and also keep the tracks in one piece.

the tracks were built by the backs
of slaves with strong backs
and if unable to perform;
often beaten to death.

Life is like a railroad:
lots of curves and cracks;
only the strong can survive
and they lay the tracks for the
passengers who ride in
ignorance;
unaware
of
its
genesis.
