scuba diving

i’ve seen a plethora of poems about the ocean
or water, but let’s dive to deeper depths to uncover
something more spectacular.

at first, i thought she was snorkeling,
kicking her legs with what appeared
to be a pale colored snorkel breaking
the surface of the water.

but then the snorkel disappeared underneath
the water…for minutes…and minutes;
impossible for someone to stay underwater
that long without breathing.

Worried, i lifted her head up;
nope, she’s good.
apparently, i’m equipped with
a breathing apparatus:
she’s officially CERTIFIED!
