strong and vulnerable

she is sick
with the flu or a cold (doesn’t matter)
which makes her vulnerable
and softens her look;
she hasn’t looked more
beautiful
than
this
moment.

it could be the time that has passed
since we last saw each other.

that church survived,
this church failed,
the other church thrived,
the religion hasn’t changed;
only
the
storyteller.

the thoughts of what could’ve been
flood the brain,

emotions
drown
the
creativity.

what
what if
what if this
what if that
what if
what?

thank you for putting me to sleep.

I’ll deal with those what-ifs another day.

Recently moved back to the States after living 16 months in Vietnam. I write to remove the thoughts trapped in the cobwebs of my psyche before the spider envelopes me whole.
